This exhibition, designed in partnership with the national school of architecture of Nancy, looks at the reconstruction of the districts of the Vosges destroyed during the Second World War, and in particular the district of Saint-Dié and the towns of the present-day metropolitan area, through the lens of photography. Through numerous period photographs from the holdings of the former ministry of reconstruction and urban planning, along with plans and documents lent by the departmental archives of the Vosges, visitors will identify the materials and construction techniques of the second Vosges reconstruction, their uses and their specific features, and will be made aware of the quality of this architecture, which makes up a large part of our landscape. Adults and children alike will be able to learn to analyze these images documenting our postwar years and to play at finding the same viewpoints in their everyday surroundings.
