The photography book has a singularity that sets it apart from other art books. Unlike works devoted to painting, sculpture or installation, which show reproductions of works that exist elsewhere, it is made up of the work itself. Photography is a reproducible medium: the image printed in the book is not a mere representation of a work, but one of its forms of existence. The book is therefore not a mediator between the reader and the work. It allows a direct experience of the work, with no intermediary." David Fourré, head of lamaindonne editions. This summer, the Villa Pérochon explores that strong link between photography and publishing by inviting lamaindonne. Built around 8 photographers, this group exhibition reveals the work carried out jointly by each photographer and their publisher.
