Exhibition
From September 19, 2026 to December 20, 2026, at Musée des émaux et faïences : Exhibition (sculpture).
Exhibition « Longwy-Audun. From fine faience to artistic ceramics (1798-1902) ». Founded in 1798, the Longwy factory began producing fine faience from the outset. It turned to artistic ceramics in the last quarter of the 19th century and became, around the year 1900, a flagship of French industrial art. This exhibition traces this evolution. Established by four prominent citizens of the town, the Longwy faience factory was later run by the Luxembourgish families De Nothomb-Boch and then D’Huart. Its products were utilitarian. From 1874, under the direction of the ceramists Amédée de Caranza and then Charles Gustave Longuet, it developed a distinctive technique and aesthetic: raised, oriental-inspired enamels. From 1880, decorative processes diversified and in 1895, the artist-painter Franck Lindley introduced the Art Nouveau style.
