Elle est alors invitée à retraverser son histoire afin de comprendre ce qui lui arrive : on découvre ainsi son arrivée à Paris petite fille et son chemin jusqu’à l’âge adulte. Un aller-retour incessant entre une cellule familiale coincée dans une mémoire de Bagdad, la guerre, les souvenirs... et une société française méconnue qu’elle doit découvrir seule, et qui la renvoie sans cesse à un statut d’étrangère. Afin d’exister dans ces deux mondes antagonistes, Yasmine est contrainte de se dédoubler...
