On stage, eight dancers and five musicians move in a circular and infinite motion, embodying a group in flux that forms and transforms before our eyes. In RODA, Aina Alegre summons an adolescent state, not an age range, but a body seeking connections and a future, with dance as its vehicle. Like parades and brass bands, the performers march in unison and bring forth a fleeting community through dance and live music. Driven by a score of unisons, canons, and variations, the piece embodies the persistence of repetition until the idea of 'doing together' emerges, so necessary today. RODA – from the Latin rotāre, 'to move in a circle' – affirms the power of the collective and the vitality of a movement that never stops reinventing itself, advancing, and continuing!
